Specialised Concrete Testing For Cast In Place Piles
A research project into the development of a robust specification for concrete in cast in place piles was developed in collaboration with the Piling Industry, Concrete industry, and TMR Funds for the research was provided by the piling industry, the concrete industry, and TMR, our contribution was up to a maximum of $20K to cover the cost of testing. The Concrete Institute of Australia did not provide funding support directly but provided in kind support in relation to the publication of the results of the research.
The work consisted of testing a range of concrete mix designs with a range of secondary cementitious materials and contents to determine the optimum parameters for cast in place pile concrete. The results of this work will be presented at the October 2011 Concrete Institute of Australia conference which the Director (Structural Materials) will be attending and also as a publication of the Concrete Institute of Australia. The results will also be reflected in the changes to TMR specifications. The testing work was of a highly specialised nature and could only be undertaken by one supplier, in this case Holcim (Australia).
