Enhancing Policy Capacity within a State Government Economic Development Agency
The Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) is moving away from a service delivery model focused principally on work in priority sectors, to one that seeks to grow the Queensland economy by targeting existing and emerging opportunities in supply chains and regions. Furthermore, DEEDI is a key player in developing and delivering new whole of government policies and plans (such as Towards Q2, the Queensland Infrastructure Plan and the Queensland Regionalisation Strategy). It is important that the department’s policy and legislative resources are aligned to, and enable this approach.
