CleanCo Queensland Limited (CleanCo), a Queensland Government-owned electricity generation and trading company, has bold ambitions for its Swanbank Clean Energy Hub located in Ipswich, immediately west of Brisbane. Swanbank will play an important role in achieving CleanCo’s 2030 goals, including CleanCo’s net zero ambitions and be a key enabler of the Queensland Government’s Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan targets. CleanCo has developed a draft masterplan for the Swanbank Clean Energy Hub to further evolve towards renewable energy generation and storage projects, as well as community infrastructure. It is anticipated that the precinct could include a mix of technologies, such as renewable and natural gas generation, batteries and hydrogen infrastructure.
To meet the proposed development timeline for power generation and storage projects, CleanCo is aiming to commence a Request for Proposal (RFP) process in early 2024. To ensure that this RFP process is targeted, this Expression of Interest (EOI) process is being undertaken to understand potential power generation and storage solutions being offered by the market.
