Tender Overview

Queensland Rail wishes to advise of an upcoming tender opportunity for project QRP-24-23 Design and Construction Mayne BHAB Upgrade Office & RTC Facilities.

This tender is planned to be released to the market via QTenders in late March 2024.

A Design and Construction Project is necessary to repurpose the Mayne Yard Alphabet Blocks.

A Block will be allocated for TSD Rail Traffic Crew (RTC) and TSD Training, as there has been a notable increase in the demand for additional staff. This surge is attributed partly to natural attrition and the necessity to accommodate the implementation of the Cross River Rail timetable.

A Block will provide an important sign-on and meal facility for RTC staff, while also offering three new classrooms dedicated to the training of RTC students to meet anticipated future demand.

Upper C Block will undergo development to transform it into an open-plan office space capable of accommodating up to 82 SEQ and Regional Rollingstock Engineers. This strategic relocation aims to centralize the engineers close to the maintenance activities within Mayne Yard. Currently, engineers are dispersed across Upper A Block, Makerston St offices, and RC2, necessitating a more cohesive and fit-for-purpose arrangement.

Tenderers must attend to a mandatory site inspection to ensure that all aspects of the proposed works are inspected, all limits or conditions are identified, and all requirements are clear.

To be considered for this activity, the Contractor must hold the following qualifications and training for the duration of the Project:

  • Queensland Building and Construction License
  • Unrestricted Demolition License
  • Asbestos and other Hazardous Wastes Removal
  • Electrical License
