Provision of Aerial Support Services for Cairns and the Sunshine Coast / Wide Bay Burnett regions

Queensland Police Service (QPS) intends to release a Request for Quote (RFQ) to the open market via QTenders by 31 May 2024 seeking suitably experienced and qualified Suppliers with an established presence in Australia to provide helicopter aerial support services in Cairns and the Sunshine Coast / Wide Bay Burnett regions for an initial 12 months.

For each region, the successful Offeror will be required to provide one (1) helicopter with NVIS capability, and suitably qualified and experienced pilots. The successful Offeror will be required to have, or obtain, a base at each region.

Data from the Aerial Support operations performed at these regions over the Contract Term will inform any future Strategic Review and recommendation to establish permanent POLAIR Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE) Services in these regions.

Please note, this is a separate procurement activity to the North Queensland (NQ) POLAIR Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE) Services activity. Full POLAIR capabilities are not in scope for this procurement activity.

The Aerial Support Services project aligns with the QPS Strategic Plan 2023-2027 strategic objectives in collaboration with community, government, and non-government partners, providing effective, high quality and responsive policing services to make Queensland safer:

Our People - Build a connected, engaged and job ready workforce with the health, well-being, and safety of our people a priority - by equipping our workforce with safe and efficient aerial support capability and service.

Our Community - Together with our community build a safer Queensland - by delivering timely and professional responses to calls for service to maintain and strengthen community confidence through a community-centred approach to policing and crime prevention.

Our Relationships - Create a safer community and provide better services through connected and engaged relationships – by maximising opportunities to prevent crime and enhance community safety through collaborative partnerships with government agencies, non-government organisations and community groups.

Our Commitment - Embrace new ideas and innovation to strengthen our capability to prevent, disrupt, respond to and investigate crime and deliver safe and secure communities – by improving our response capability through streamlining, technology, improved models of service delivery, continuous learning, and business optimisation.
