Tender Overview

• The Booyah program supports 220 youths per year at 11 locations across Queensland.

• The delivery of program is based on psychological principles including Cognitive Based Therapy and Trauma Informed Practice. The role of psychology on program is to screen all applicants to ensure the psychological profile of selected youth is at a level that they will benefit from program, ensuring trauma informed practice is delivered.

• There remains significant risk in the delivery of youth programs exposing the QPS to high levels of risk in multiple areas including, physical risk to youth, other participants, staff, psychological risk, and corporate reputational risk. The psychology role mitigates these risks for participants, staff, and QPS.

• Whilst the program is underway, psychology provide direct advice to staff on best practice in managing a range of behaviours including anxiety, ADHD, and self-harm. In some cases, the psychology team engage directly with youth and families to avert crisis events.

Project Booyah will be running programs across the 11 sites confirmed to end of 2026
