Tender Overview

The State of Queensland as represented by the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers seeks offers from suitably qualified engineering entities to perform the entire design process and deliver Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specification documents for the construction of the new Town Water Mains.

Cherbourg is an Aboriginal community of the Wakka Wakka people. Located in Wakka Wakka tribal boundaries, near the border of Gubbi Gubbi territory. It is located 267 kms northwest of Brisbane and located in the South Burnett region. The community has an estimated population of 1,190 residents according to the 2021 census, though DASC suggests the actual population is closer to 1,800.

With projected population growth to 4000 by 2070, the demand for essential services, including safe and reliable drinking water, is expected to increase significantly. The Cherbourg Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is critical source for supplying potable water to the Cherbourg Aboriginal community.

The successful consultant will develop a detailed design for the following construction scope of work.

• Run a new 250mm water main from WTP to the corner of Barambah Drive and Broadway Street (AIM Church corner). Note: the new main can remain on the Northern side of the road if this makes works simpler.
• Allowance for an exposed water crossing at the bottom of Murray Road.
• Run new 250mm water main from junction on Barambah Drive to the Main Depot parallel to Fisher St. Total estimated length 800m (including wastage).
• Allow for the installation of eight (8) new Fire hydrants.
• Allow for shut-off valves, pump stations and signage, as required.
• Access for the services such as the hospital, ambulance, fire and police must be allowed for.
• Installation of smart water meters is required for all reconnection of existing water services.
• Develop a full site assessment report highlighting any staging requirements that are needed during the construction, compliance with Australian standards including fire hydrant.
• A Technical specification document is also required to be developed that will be used for the construction.
• Undertake a power systems analysis

Project Management services and construction is not part of the scope of work.
