Tender Overview

 

The Gudang Yadhaykenu Aboriginal Corporation (GYAC) has secured funding through the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) to redevelop the Cape York Wilderness Lodge (Freehold Land Lot 22 SP309088).

DETSI is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and licenced demolition contractor to demolish/clear redundant infrastructure and vegetation at the Pajinka Wilderness Lodge Cape York to make way for camping.

The proposed construction activities are specialist work that will form stage 1 of a broader precinct plan that has been endorsed by the community landowners. The objective is to have the works completed during the 2025 dry season with completion prior to 31 December 2025.

The physical scope of work will include but not limited to:
* The demolition of 31 different structures
* Minor vegetation trimming adjacent to the demolition structures to provide access
* Backfilling and compacting of excavated materials (pools, septic tanks etc)
* Removal of demolition waste
* Testing of ground conditions adjacent to old fuel tanks to confirm contamination extents (if any)

**Important Dates**
A mandatory site visit will be held with the Department funding travel to site from Cairns for one (1) representative per supplier.
Interested suppliers will be required to fund their own travel to Cairns.
Details are as follows:
Site Visi Date: 5 August 2025 - Approx. departure from Cairns 08:00am
RSVP: Please RSVP via procurement@detsi.qld.gov.au listing the name and contact details of the supplier representative attending by no later than close of business, 28 July 2025.
Last date for Supplier questions/queries: 02:00pm, AEST 12 August 2025
