Section 1

Tender Overview

The Department of Primary Industries are seeking offers for the Servicing of Fish Aggregating Devices. Servicing includes replacing deployed FADs with a new FAD at the site of deployment. If possible, anchors and other components of old FADs are reused. The unusable components are made available for recycling.

Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) are installed off the Queensland coast all year round to enhance fishing, particularly recreational and charter fishing, help reduce fishing pressure of overfished snapper and pearl perch stocks and to improve the understanding of the movement patterns of marine animals by detecting tagged marine animals at FAD locations.

The servicing of the FADs in southern Queensland generally comprises of the deployment and retrieval of FADs off the Queensland coast in state and Australian waters, plus some ancillary services and related reporting.

A full description of the requirements is detailed in the Attachment - Specification document.
