Tender Overview

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) stands prominently in South Brisbane’s vibrant South Bank precinct, encircled by cultural institutions, leafy parklands, and a rich mix of dining and entertainment venues. The Centre is owned by South Bank Corporation (SBC), a Queensland Government statutory entity established in 1989 under the South Bank Corporation Act 1989. SBC was created to drive the development, place-making, and management of the South Bank precinct, evolving the area from its post-Expo ’88 status into one of Brisbane’s most cherished urban destinations. SBC’s responsibilities extend from land planning and property oversight to security, events, retail leasing, public activation, and precinct-wide management of the South Bank area, which welcomes millions of visitors each year.

Although owned by SBC on behalf of the Queensland Government, the operational management of BCEC is entrusted to Legends Global, a leading international venue management company. Legends Global brings global best practices, operational excellence, and a nuanced understanding of large-scale events to BCEC, ensuring it consistently delivers world-class conference, exhibition, and cultural experiences.

The project will refresh and replace all the network infrastructure at BCEC. The intention is that this project will provide the major refresh required until after the 2032 Olympics, with a mid-life partial refresh of equipment in 2029. If possible, SBC wants to move to a model of more regular smaller upgrades going forward.
