Section 1

Tender Overview

The business of government in Queensland is heavily reliant on the use of digital technologies. As such, the primary evidence of public administration in this State is created in the form of digital records. Many of these born-digital records are of critical importance and need to be retained in a secure, useable, accessible and authentic form for long periods of time, well after the technologies used to created them become obsolete.

Queensland currently lacks a whole-of-government approach to ensuring the longevity and ongoing useability of the increasing volume of critical digital information assets of the State. Queensland State Archives, which holds regulatory responsibility for the preservation of the State’s information records, currently lacks the capability or capacity to take custody, preserve and access of permanent value digital public records. This places at risk the loss of critical digital information assets and the evidence base of public administration in the State.

The Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI) is looking to establish a digital archiving solution that will enable the ongoing capability, preservation and access to permanent value public records.

An Invitation to an Early Market Engagement Session for this project is due to be released on Monday 28 September 2015.  This was originally forcast as an Expression of Interest, however to allow industry a better opportunity for any future procurement activities this is now being initiated as an early market engagement session.
