Tender Overview

Queensland Rail is seeking to successfully implement an integrated and modular travel booking system solution for long distance and tourist train services . The system must meet Queensland Rail business, technology requirements and performance expectations.

The introduction of a new booking system will support Queensland Rail Travel’s key business drivers:

  • Improve customer experience with a positive impact on customer satisfaction and patronage growth
  • Increase online bookings
  • Improve efficiency of travel booking process

The solution will be required to be of minimal maintenance, technical and/or administrative effort, easy to use and suitable for all Queensland Rail users (internal staff, third party agents and customers). Queensland Rail’s preference is for a commercial off the shelf solution requiring minimal customisation. Queensland Rail aims to implement a system that:

  • Is specifically designed for rail travel bookings and able to manage inventory and timetable across all QRT train services including Kuranda Scenic Railway and Gulflander
  • Enables all consumer customer segments (B2C) to purchase their tickets online with immediate confirmation and no manual intervention by QRT staff
  • Enables third party trade bookings to be made without Queensland Rail Travel intervention
  • Enables Queensland Rail Travel customer facing staff to book and change tickets quickly and accurately with immediate confirmation to the customer
  • Enables efficient back end processing and reconciliation
