Tender Overview |

The University of Queensland (“UQ”) is seeking responses to this EOI from suppliers that can provide two (2) Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Buses to better understand the capabilities and commercial readiness of Australian based suppliers. The University of Queensland (UQ) submitted a proposal to Queensland State Government’s Hydrogen Industry Development Fund (HIDF). The application proposed replacing two diesel fuelled buses operating between Gatton and the St Lucia campuses with two instrumented Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Buses (FCEBs) fuelled by hydrogen generated on site at the Gatton campus. UQ’s application was successful. The project requires UQ to design, construct and operate a hydrogen production plant with an electrolyser, hydrogen storage, refuelling systems and procure two (2) FCEBs. The project will provide a sustainable demonstration of hydrogen transport and contribute to UQ’s core vision, objectives and strategic focus areas of reducing emissions, increasing sustainability and, the ethical production of energy. This EOI focuses on the future procurement of the FCEBs which will operate on UQ’s very visible intercampus bus service. The project will underpin ground-breaking research on the viability of hydrogen fuel for public transport over long distances, and at high speeds. |
