The Gateway to Industry Skills Program (GISP) is a key industry engagement strategy for Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) that aligns with the department’s vision for all Queenslanders to have the skills and opportunities to participate and prosper in the economy. The program lays the foundations for all young Queenslanders to gain valuable skills and knowledge before they walk out of the classroom. The Skills for Queensland - Great training for quality jobs (Skills for Queensland strategy) recognised the importance of strong partnering arrangements between schools, industry and employers and supported a refreshed and expanded GISP to better support school students transitioning from school to work or further education. The key benefits of GISP are:
DESBT is seeking interest from organisations based in Queensland with strong industry and training links that have capabilities to deliver the services required under the Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP) for the Hydrogen industry.
This priority industry has been chosen for the GISP due to the potential for growth and readiness to provide employment and skills opportunities for young Queenslanders transitioning through the school system. The GISP - Hydrogen industry is recognised as a key component of the Queensland Government’s Hydrogen Industry Workforce Development Roadmap 2022 – 2023 that was launched on 20 July 2022.
