Tenders are invited for a Principal Contractor to design and construct a design solution that meets the Deemed to Satisfy provisions of the National Construction Code (NCC) for the replacement of combustible cladding with compliant materials for seven (7) buildings at two James Cook Univeristy (JCU) Campuses. Four (4) buildings on the Nguma-bada Campus, Smithfield, Cairns and three (3) buildings on the Bebegu Yumba Campus, Douglas Townsville Campus. These buildings can be made compliant without major capital cost under Deemed to Satisfy provisions of the National Construction Code by removing and replacing the various combustible cladding (non-conforming materials) with new compliant cladding.

The Principal Contractor will procure appropriate design consultants to undertake the design, achieve the design objectives and document the design. The Principal Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating the consultants’ actions, inputs and deliverables. The works involve the safe removal and replacement of combustible cladding with a compliant material on a “like-for-like” basis, with the new cladding material having similar aesthetics, warranties, acoustic properties, maintenance requirements and no reduction in energy efficiency standards.

Tenderers are invited to tender as Principal Contractor for either Campus or for both Campuses combined.
