Tender Overview

QRP-22-13 Digital Maintainer – EOI Tender Overview

Queensland Rail (QR) has been using SAP Work Manager digital maintainer since the SAP Plant Maintenance ‘Enterprise Asset Management System’ (EAMS) was implemented. Whilst the product has provided key support for the management of QR assets it does not provide all the functionality desired by QR to manage, operate and maintain its assets. Coupled to this, SAP Work Manager will no longer be supported after 2024. QR needs to find and implement a digital maintainer solution to replace SAP Work Manager.

Current maintenance work practices heavily rely on front-line maintenance workers (maintainers) using paper for recording maintenance work activities. Expensive maintenance resources spend significant time, prior scheduled inspections, preparing paperwork for maintainers (i.e. printing and stapling inspections, printing notifications and work orders)

QR has a requirement for a mobile Digital Maintainer solution that connects Rollingstock maintainers, maintenance leaders, inventory staff and maintenance engineers on the workshop floor to QR’s Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS). The mobile solution will guide the frontline maintenance workers throughout the inspection, ensuring improved quality assurance in the maintenance process.

The expected benefits of the new Digital Maintainer include but are not limited to:

  • Reduction in asset downtime (i.e. asset out of service)
  • Reduction in asset's ad-hoc inspection requirements hence minimised ‘return to shed' events
  • Effective utilisation of resources across the business
  • Accurate and instant time confirmations, supporting the planning of workforce utilisation
  • Eliminated human errors from manual handing of inspection paperwork
  • Significant reduction in paper printing and ink usage
  • Increased efficiency and accuracy of data collection
