Section 1

Tender Overview

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries through the Shark Control Program is seeking proposals for Enhanced Aerial Shark Detection trial.

The department is seeking a suitably qualitied and experienced supplier to investigate and trial enhanced aerial shark detection technologies and provide a report recommending further trial options.

Part A: Enhancing the detection of sharks in the SharkSmart drone trial (the Trial). The Trial is delivered by the department in partnership with Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) using DJI Mavic Pro drones with standard HD cameras. The aim of this project is to investigate and trial Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions with the aim of enhancing the detection of sharks.

Part B: Improved aerial shark detection in low-clarity water. The aim of this part is to investigate and trial alternative aerial technologies which may improve the detection of sharks in low-clarity water conditions. Poor water clarity makes the use of drones with standard HD cameras ineffective. The aim is to investigate and trial, real-time aerial shark detection technologies which significantly improve the detection of sharks under poor water clarity conditions and provide a report for further consideration by the department.
