Tender Overview

The Department of Energy and Public Works (EPW) is pleased to announce a tender opportunity for the establishment of an Inspectorate for the Queensland Government’s recently announced Battery Booster program (program). The program is an initiative of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan and will offer an incentive for Queensland households by providing a rebate to install a Battery Energy Storage Systems to either their existing solar PV systems or to a new solar PV system.  Safety and compliance is a critical aspect of this program, and EPW is now tendering for a suitably experienced Supplier to undertake an inspection regime of all program battery systems installed throughout Queensland.

Key deliverables include:

  • Inspections. It is estimated that up to 2,500 inspections across Queensland will be required. The Supplier operating the inspection regime will work with installers to ensure the safety and quality of installations, as well as educate installers on identified issues relating to industry best practice, safety risks and emerging risks throughout the inspection regime. The Supplier will be required to take action to make safe any systems that are electrically unsafe, if required.
  • Live support service for installers. The Supplier will be required to provide a `live support function’ to installers wishing to clarify any aspects of an installation while onsite, to ensure their installation complies and provide regular updates to industry regarding safety and identified issues.
  • Attendance at industry briefing session. The Supplier and its key personnel will be required to attend and present at an industry briefing session with approved installers.
  • Provision of professional advice to assist in the program’s delivery as required.
